Congratulations to our Student-Athletes of the Month for February: Riley Burdette and Pierce Pennington.
Riley is a senior member of the Varsity softball and tennis teams. “I have played softball since I was four. I decided freshman year that I wanted to play tennis, which has since become my favorite sport.” When asked about her favorite memories at RHS, Riley said, “I have loved every bit of my tennis career, from freshman year to now. Everything from the sport to the people have given me some of the best friendships and the best memories I have ever had.” Riley plans to attend Georgia Tech after graduation and major in mechanical engineering. She says that the person who has influenced her the most at RHS is Coach Jake Pullen. “Not only is he a great math teacher who has helped me excel, but he is a great coach who has made me both a better tennis player and a better person.”
Pierce Pennington is a member of the Varsity wrestling team and a junior at RHS. “I started to wrestle because I would always find myself to be super aggressive and always want to be physical when I was younger.” Pierce says his favorite memories of high school include attending home football games and any overnight trips with the wrestling team. In the future, Pierce wants to wrestle in college. When asked who has impacted him the most academically at RHS, he said Coach Walker. “His drive to be the best influences everyone who is ever around him.” Price is a two-time state champion, and we know he will be working hard to make it a three-peat his senior year!
