I graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (1985) with a major in Health, Physical Education : Recreation Specialist and a minor in Sociology.

In 1991, I attained my Masters of Education specializing in Diagnostic and Prescriptive education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

After graduating from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1985, I worked at Valley Hospital specializing with adolescents for three years as a coordinator of Adjunctive Therapy.  While employed at Valley I attained national certification as Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.  Part of my job was working closely with the educational team. From the experiences I gained at Valley, I realized my true path was as an educator.

Therefore, I returned to UTC to continue my education and to specialize in helping those with learning differences.  I have been teaching and working with adolescents for more than twenty-five years.  Just as I did when I started teaching, I continue to believe that all students are capable and can learn the tasks that life demands of them.  I strive to help each individual develop and realize these are truths and to believe it is the truth as it pertains to them.
